My Story

My entire life has revolved around art. No matter what, I always involved myself in storytelling in some way. Though it consumed my life, I never sat myself down to try to understand why my life was so different than others. Of course, I am told that I am artistic. I am an artist. Those words only go so far if you don't fully understand WHY.

Over the past year, I have really taken the time to be with myself and figure out WHY I want to do this. Most people have an answer, and I did too. I couldn't help but wonder if my answer was real or if I was just saying what people excepted me to say. Instead of going along with what I figured was the "right" answer, I decided to dive into the real reason I do this:

I want to not only make people feel represented and seen, but I also want to put a mirror up for those who are too blind to see who they truly are. I want to challenge people's opinions. Even if I disagree with my character's morals, I love to learn and present their beliefs to an audience just to educate people with a different perspective of thinking. With everything that is happening in the world, I think it is so important to bring together people from different paths in life and help them understand each other. I really do think that would heal some of the damage that is present in our society. I think that people so often forget that everyone is on a different path. Just seeing how neglected and ill some people just in New York makes me sick, thinking that people who could help them don't. There are so many lives out there that are not being shown, and that's why it's an artists job to showcase these people, to give them life somewhere that may not even have imagined they existed. That is why I am an artist.
